When do you know you’re going to enjoy a book?
I am re-reading ’45 & 47 Stella Street’ because a Year 7 student told me it had a slow beginning.
Do you like an action-packed beginning? Or is it okay to read two or three chapters before you start to enjoy the story? Have you read and enjoyed a ‘slow starter’? What was it?

I wonder if anyone has read a title or two of Moya Simons’s Walk Right In Detective Agency series. Would they be enjoyed by kids who love mysteries?

Summer holiday reading
The weather has made sure I’ve been doing some reading this holiday. I enjoyed two new titles that will be in the Library soon – the newest Ranger’s Apprentice, ‘The Emperor of Nihon-Ja’ ; and Jackie French’s ‘The Night They Stormed Eureka’.
